What is Daf Yomi? מהו הדף היומי?
Daf Yomi (Hebrew: דף יומי Daf Yomi, "page of the day") is a daily regimen of learning Talmud. All 2,711 pages of the Babylonian Talmud are covered in sequence, in a cycle of seven and a half years. The first cycle of Daf Yomi began on Rosh Hashanah in 1923 across Europe, America, and Israel with the first page of the first tractate of the Talmud, Berakhot. The 14th Daf Yomi cycle starts in January 2020. פרוייקט הדף היומי הוא חלוקה של התלמוד הבבלי למקטעי לימוד יומיים. מידי יום לומדים קטע אחד עד להשלמת לימוד התלמוד כולו. 2,711 עמודי התלמוד נלמדים ברצף ע"י חלוקה זו, וכך מחזור אחד של לימוד התלמוד אורך שבע וחצי שנים. המחזור הראשון של הדף היומי החל בראש השנה של שנת 1923 ברחבי אירופה, אמריקה וישראל, בלימוד העמוד הראשון של המסכת הראשונה של התלמוד, מסכת ברכות. מחזור הדף היומי הבא, ה -14 במספר, יתחיל בחודש טבת תש"פ, ינואר 2020.
