(18) And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of a book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
(ד) אִמְרוּ לְנִמְהֲרֵי לֵב חִזְקוּ אַל תִּירָאוּ הִנֵּה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם נָקָם יָבוֹא גְּמוּל אֱלֹהִים הוּא יָבוֹא וְיֹשַׁעֲכֶם. (ה) אָז תִּפָּקַחְנָה עֵינֵי עִוְרִים וְאָזְנֵי חֵרְשִׁים תִּפָּתַחְנָה. (ו) אָז יְדַלֵּג כָּאַיָּל פִּסֵּחַ וְתָרֹן לְשׁוֹן אִלֵּם כִּי נִבְקְעוּ בַמִּדְבָּר מַיִם וּנְחָלִים בָּעֲרָבָה.
(4) Say to them that are of a fearful heart: ‘Be strong, fear not’; Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God He will come and save you. (5) Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. (6) Then shall the lame man leap as a gazelle, And the tongue of the dumb shall sing; For in the wilderness shall waters break out, And streams in the desert.
(ז) הִנְנִי מֵבִיא אוֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ צָפוֹן וְקִבַּצְתִּים מִיַּרְכְּתֵי אָרֶץ בָּם עִוֵּר וּפִסֵּחַ הָרָה וְיֹלֶדֶת יַחְדָּו קָהָל גָּדוֹל יָשׁוּבוּ הֵנָּה. (ח) בִּבְכִי יָבֹאוּ וּבְתַחֲנוּנִים אוֹבִילֵם אוֹלִיכֵם אֶל נַחֲלֵי מַיִם בְּדֶרֶךְ יָשָׁר לֹא יִכָּשְׁלוּ בָּהּ כִּי הָיִיתִי לְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְאָב וְאֶפְרַיִם בְּכֹרִי הוּא. (ט) שִׁמְעוּ דְבַר יְהוָה גּוֹיִם וְהַגִּידוּ בָאִיִּים מִמֶּרְחָק וְאִמְרוּ מְזָרֵה יִשְׂרָאֵל יְקַבְּצֶנּוּ וּשְׁמָרוֹ כְּרֹעֶה עֶדְרוֹ.
(7) Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth, And with them the blind and the lame, The woman with child and her that travaileth with child together; A great company shall they return hither. (8) They shall come with weeping, And with supplications will I lead them; I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, In a straight way wherein they shall not stumble; For I am become a father to Israel, And Ephraim is My first-born. (9) Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, And declare it in the isles afar off, and say: ‘He that scattered Israel doth gather him, And keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.’
ר"ל רמי כתיב (ירמיהו לא, ח) בם עור ופסח הרה ויולדת יחדו וכתיב (ישעיהו לה, ו) אז ידלג כאיל פסח ותרון לשון אלם כי נבקעו במדבר מים ונחלים בערבה. הא כיצד? עומדין במומן ומתרפאין.
Resh Lakish opposed [two verses to each other].
It is written, [I will gather them.] with the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together; whilst it is also written, Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing, for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
בא וראה כל מה שהכה הקדוש ברוך הוא בעולם הזה, מרפא אותן לעתיד לבא. העורים מתרפאים, שנאמר (שם לה): אז תפקחנה עיני עורים. והפסחים מתרפאים, שנאמר (שם ): אז ידלג כאיל פסח. ותרון לשון אלם, וכשם שאדם הולך כך הוא בא. הולך עור ובא עור. חרש ובא חרש. אלם ובא אלם. כשם שהוא הולך לבוש, כך הוא בא לבוש..... ולמה כשם שהאדם הולך, כך הוא בא? שלא יאמרו כשהם חיים לא ריפאן, משמתו ריפאן הקב"ה ואחר כך הביאן?! דומה שאינן אותן, אלא אלו אחרים הם. אמר הקדוש ברוך הוא: אם כן, יעמדו כמו שהלכו, ואח"כ אני מרפא אותן. למה? (ישעיה מג): לפני לא נוצר אל, ואני מרפא אותן,
Come and see that everyone that the Kadosh Baruch Hu struck in this world, He will heal them in the times to come. The blind will be healed as it is said (Isaiah 35): "Then the eyes of the blind will be opened." And the lame will be healed as it is said (ibid): "Then the lame will leap like a gazelle and the tongue of the mute shall sing." And just as a man leaves, so he comes [back]. If he leaves blind, he comes [back] blind. [If he leaves] deaf, he comes [back] deaf. [If he leaves] mute, he comes [back] mute. Just as he leaves clothed, he comes [back] clothed.... And why is that just as a man leaves, so he comes [back]? So that they won't say that when they are alive he didn't heal them, but then they die, God heals them and then brings them [back]?! It seems that these are not them, but rather these are others. The Kadosh Baruch Hu said, "If that's the case, then they will rise as they left and after that I will heal them. Why? (Isaiah 43:10) "Before me there was no God formed" and I will heal them.
