Author: Meir Leibush Weisser (Malbim)
Eretz Chemdah is a collection of sermons on the Torah readings and haftarot by 19th-century Torah scholar Meir Leibush ben Yechiel Michel Weisser, also known by the acronym Malbim. Throughout his biblical commentary, the author aims to present peshat (straightforward, plain, or simple) interpretations, while the sermons in Eretz Chemdah are of a more homiletical bent. Eretz Chemdah was published together with Aleh LiTerufah, Malbim’s commentary on the fourth chapter of Rambam’s Laws of Human Dispositions, about health and nutrition, which the printer notes was too short to publish alone.
