About This Text
II Chronicles (“Divrei Hayamim Bet”) is the second half of the last book of the Hebrew Bible. It retells biblical history, beginning with the reign of King Solomon until the destruction of the First Temple and the edict of Cyrus the Great. While parts of II Chronicles align with details that appear in the later Prophets, much of it contains additions, gaps, or alternative explanations; for example, the book focuses almost exclusively on kings from Judah, with only occasional mentions of the kingdom of Israel.
