Pi. - עִיוָּה 1) to subvert, lay waste (cmp. הָפַךְ). Ḥull. 60ᵇ (play on עַוִּים, Deut. II, 23) שעִיוּוּ את מקומן Ar. a. Rashi (ed. שעִיוְּתוּ) they laid waste their home (deserted it); Yalk. Deut. 809; Yalk. Josh. 22 שעִוּוּ.— *2) to curve one’s self (like a serpent, v. עִוְיָא), wriggle. Ib. שעיוו לאלוהות הרבה Ar. they wriggled before many deities (ed. שאִיוּוּ, v. אָוָה I).
