The Prayer of Manasseh is an apocryphal 15-verse prayer of repentance attributed to Manasseh ben Hezekiah, the 14th king of Judah, composed sometime between the 2nd century BCE and the 2nd century CE. The Bible describes Manasseh as one of the most idolatrous kings of Judah (II Kings 21:1–18; II Chronicles 33:1–9), and records that Manassah was taken captive by the Assyrians (II Chronicles 33:13). In captivity, he prayed for mercy, and turned from his idolatrous ways upon being freed. The Bible does not record the content of the prayer, but mentions that it is recorded in the “chronicles of the kings of Israel” (II Chronicles 33:18).
