About This Text
Author: Moses ben Nachman (Ramban)
Known primarily for his talmudic writings and his commentary on the Torah, Rabbi Moses ben Nachman (known by the acronym Ramban) wrote a commentary on only one other biblical book, Job. Central to the book of Job is the question of why a just God allows good people to suffer, a problem Ramban saw as philosophically and emotionally charged and at the root of all heresy. Utilizing the idea of mystical secrets beyond human comprehension, Ramban offers a unique solution to the book’s fundamental questions.
