Temurah (“Substitution”) is a tractate within Seder Kodashim (“Order of Holy Things”). It mainly discusses the prohibition, based in Leviticus 27:10 and 27:33, against substituting a non-consecrated animal for an animal consecrated for sacrifice in the Temple, and the sacred status that both animals receive if this prohibition is violated. Temurah’s seven chapters address details such as the status of fetuses of substituted animals and the status of money set aside for sacrifices.
