About This Text
Teshuvot Maharsham is an early 20th-century collection of more than 2,300 responsa written by Rabbi Shalom Mordechai Schwadron, known by the acronym Maharsham. The highly regarded responsa stand out in their clarity, thorough analysis of relevant talmudic and rabbinic sources, and the author’s drive to use available tools to arrive at lenient positions where he felt necessary. The first four volumes were published in Schwadron’s lifetime, and the remaining three were published posthumously by Schwadron’s son and grandson.
