About This Text
Author: Israel Lifschitz
Composed: Dessau, Germany, c.1810 – c.1830 CE
Written by Rabbi Israel Lipschitz (1782–1860), Tiferes Yisrael, often referred to as Mishnayos Yachin uBoaz is a commentary on the Mishnah. The commentary is divided into two parts; Yachin and Boaz. Yachin is the plain-sense explanation of the text, and Boaz contains lengthier analytical insights. Appended to each chapter is a section called "Hilchata Gevirta" containing a Halachic synopsis of each mishna. Many tractates are also preceded with an introduction and a separate essay discussing the subject matter at length.
