About This Text
Author: Yirachmiel Yisrael Danziger
Composed: c.1875 – c.1915 CE
Yismach Yisrael, written by Rabbi Yerachmiel Yisrael Danziger (1853–1910), is a compilation of Divrei Torah on the Haggadah. Rabbi Danziger was the most well-known member of the Aleksander Hasidic dynasty. Yismach Yisrael is a spiritual work which views the Passover seder as a time for renewal and healing. An example of this can be found in the first comment on Ha Lachma Anya, where the “healing power of matzah” is discussed.
