The lineage of Amalek = Ishmael + Esau
And the angel of the Lord said to her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the Lord has heard thy affliction.
He shall be a wild ass of a person;
His hand against everyone,
And everyone’s hand against him;
He shall dwell alongside of all his kin.”
And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, a hundred and thirty seven years: and he expired and died; and was gathered to his people.
They dwelt from Havilah, by Shur, which is close to Egypt, all the way to Asshur; they camped alongside all their kin.
Esau took his wives from among the Canaanite women—Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah daughter of Zibeon the Hivite —
Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz; Basemath bore Reuel;
Timna was a concubine of Esau’s son Eliphaz; she bore Amalek to Eliphaz. Those were the descendants of Esau’s wife Adah.
Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, and all the members of his household, his cattle and all his livestock, and all the property that he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and went to another land because of his brother Jacob.
Saul destroyed Amalek from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is close to Egypt,
Right before the first encounter with Amalek, the world hear the miracles and are in awe of God
Agony grips the dwellers in Philistia.
The tribes of Moab—trembling grips them;
All the dwellers in Canaan are aghast.
Jethro priest of Midian, Moses’ father-in-law, heard all that God had done for Moses and for Israel, God’s people, how God had brought Israel out from Egypt.
First Encounter with Amalek,
Crises of faith: Right before the first major battle between the Nation of Amalek and Nation of Israel
And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, by their stages, according to the commandment of the Lord, and pitched in Refidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
The place was named Massah and Meribah, because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the Lord, saying, Is God not present among us or not?”
Then came the Amalek, and fought with Israel in Refidim.
The first major battle between Israel and Amalek
Moses said to Joshua, “Pick some men for us, and go out and do battle with Amalek. Tomorrow I will station myself on the top of the hill, with the rod of God in my hand.”
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Inscribe this in a document as a reminder, and read it aloud to Joshua: I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven!”
And Moses built an altar and named it Adonai-nissi.
Commandment from God to Destroy the Amalek
Therefore, when the LORD your God grants you safety from all your enemies around you, in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as a hereditary portion, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven. Do not forget!
King Saul disobeys G-d and allows the Amalek King to live
but Saul and the troops spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the second-born, the lambs, and all else that was of value. They would not proscribe them; they proscribed only what was cheap and worthless.
Defiance, like the iniquity of teraphim.
Because you rejected the LORD’s command,
He has rejected you as king.”
The Book of Esther: Haman is described as a descendant of King Agag, the Amalekite King
