Bet is the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

Be-marot
(of the mirrors) has a
bet
rather than a
mem
prefaced to it. It is proper Hebrew to do so. We find the same in the verse
ve-ha-notar ba-basar u-va-lachem
(and that which remaineth of the flesh and of the bread) (Lev. 8:32). It is the same case in Arabic.

בו, “from it;” the letter ב here is substituting for the letter מ which we would have expected.
