Tamara Cohn Eskenazi

Rabbi Dr. Tamara Cohn Eskenazi is the Effie Wise Ochs Professor Emerita of Biblical Literature and History at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. She was the first woman to be appointed by HUC-JIR to the rabbinical faculty. Among her many contributions to Jewish and biblical scholarship, she co-edited the award-winning The Torah: A Women’s Commentary and co-authored The JPS Bible Commentary: Ruth.
