כְּהִלְכָתָם: according to their law.
יִשְׂמְ֒חוּ בְמַלְכוּתְ֒ךָ They shall rejoice in Your kingship—
שׁוֹמְ֒רֵי שַׁבָּת those who preserve the Sabbath
וְקֽוֹרְ֒אֵי עֹֽנֶג. and call it a delight.
עַם מְקַדְּ֒שֵׁי שְׁבִיעִי. The people who sanctify the seventh day
כֻּלָּם יִשְׂבְּ֒עוּ they will all be satisfied
וְיִתְעַנְּ֒גוּ מִטּוּבֶֽךָ. and delighted from Your goodness.
וּבַשְּׁ֒בִיעִי רָצִֽיתָ בּוֹ And in the seventh day—You took pleasure
וְקִדַּשְׁתּוֹ and You hallowed it.
חֶמְדַּת יָמִים אוֹתוֹ קָרָֽאתָ. “Most desirable of days,” You called it—
זֵֽכֶר לְמַעֲשֵׂה בְרֵאשִׁית: a commemoration of the work of creation.
אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ Our God and God of our fathers,
רְצֵה בִמְנוּחָתֵֽנוּ. be pleased with our rest
וְחַדֵּשׁ עָלֵֽינוּ בְּיוֹם הַשַּׁבָּת הַזֶּה and renew for us on this Sabbath day
אֶת הַחֹֽדֶשׁ הַזֶּה this new month
לְטוֹבָה וְלִבְרָכָה. for goodness and for blessing,
לְשָׂשׁוֹן וּלְשִׂמְחָה. for happiness and for rejoicing,
לִישׁוּעָה וּלְנֶחָמָה. for deliverance and for consolation,
לְפַרְנָסָה וּלְכַלְכָּלָה. for maintenance and for sustenance,

תְּחִילָה וָרֹאשׁ the beginning and prelude
לְפִדְיוֹן נַפְשֵֽׁינוּ. of the redemption of our souls,
כִּי בְעַמְּ֒ךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל for Your people, Israel
בָּחַֽרְתָּ מִכָּל הָאֻמּוֹת. have You chosen from among all nations,
וְשַׁבָּתוֹת and Sabbaths,
לָהֶם הוֹדָֽעְתָּ have You made known to them,
וְחֻקֵּי רָאשֵׁי חֳדָשִׁים and the statutes of Rosh Chodesh days,
לָהֶם קָבָֽעְתָּ: You established for them.
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה Blessed are You
מְקַדֵּשׁ הַשַּׁבָּת וְיִשְׂרָאֵל Sanctifier of the Sabbath, and Israel
וְרָאשֵׁי חֳדָשִׁים: and Rosh Chodesh days.
עבודה PRAYER FOR RETURN OF DIVINE SERVICE
רְצֵה יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ Be pleased, Adonoy, our God,
בְּעַמְּ֒ךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל וּבִתְפִלָּתָם שְׁעֵה. with Your people Israel and their prayer,
וְהָשֵׁב אֶת הָעֲבוֹדָה and restore the service
לִדְבִיר בֵּיתֶֽךָ to the Holy of Holies in Your abode,
וְאִשֵּׁי יִשְׂרָאֵל. and the fire-offerings of Israel;
וּתְפִלָּתָם בְּאַהֲבָה תְקַבֵּל בְּרָצוֹן and accept their prayer, lovingly and willingly.
וּתְהִי לְרָצוֹן תָּמִיד And may You always find pleasure
עֲבוֹדַת יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמֶּֽךָ: with the service of Your people, Israel.
וְתֶחֱזֶֽינָה עֵינֵֽינוּ And may our eyes behold
בְּשׁוּבְ֒ךָ לְצִיּוֹן בְּרַחֲמִים: Your merciful return to Zion.
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה Blessed are You, Adonoy,
הַמַּחֲזִיר שְׁכִינָתוֹ לְצִיּוֹן: Who returns His Divine Presence to Zion.
At the words, We are thankful, bend forward; at Adonoy return to an upright position.
הודאה THANKSGIVING
מוֹדִים אֲנַֽחְנוּ לָךְ We are thankful to You
שָׁאַתָּה הוּא יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ that You Adonoy are our God,
וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד and the God of our fathers forever;
צוּר חַיֵּֽינוּ Rock of our lives,
מָגֵן יִשְׁעֵֽנוּ the Shield of our deliverance,
אַתָּה הוּא לְדוֹר וָדוֹר You are in every generation.
נוֹדֶה לְּךָ We will give thanks to You
וּנְסַפֵּר תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ and recount Your praise,
עַל חַיֵּֽינוּ for our lives
הַמְּ֒סוּרִים בְּיָדֶֽךָ which are committed into Your hand,
וְעַל נִשְׁמוֹתֵֽינוּ הַפְּ֒קוּדוֹת לָךְ and for our souls which are entrusted to You,
וְעַל נִסֶּֽיךָ שֶׁבְּ֒כָל יוֹם עִמָּֽנוּ and for Your miracles of every day with us
וְעַל נִפְלְ֒אוֹתֶֽיךָ וְטוֹבוֹתֶֽיךָ and for Your wonders and benefactions
שֶׁבְּ֒כָל עֵת. at all times—
עֶֽרֶב וָבֹֽקֶר וְצָהֳרָֽיִם. evening, morning and noon.
הַטּוֹב (You are) The Beneficent One—
כִּי לֹא כָלוּ רַחֲמֶֽיךָ for Your compassion is never withheld;
וְהַמְ֒רַחֵם And (You are) the Merciful One—
כִּי לֹא תַֽמּוּ חֲסָדֶֽיךָ. for Your kindliness never ceases;
מֵעוֹלָם קִוִּֽינוּ לָךְ: we have always placed our hope in You.
(When the Chazzan repeats the Shemoneh Esrei and says, “Who returns His Divine Presence to Zion”, the congregation responds by saying “Amein” and then the following prayer.)
מוֹדִים אֲנַֽחְנוּ לָךְ We are thankful to You,
שָׁאַתָּה הוּא יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ that You Adonoy are our God
וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ and God of our fathers,
אֱלֹהֵי כָל בָּשָׂר God of all flesh,
יוֹצְ֒רֵֽנוּ יוֹצֵר בְּרֵאשִׁית our Creator, Creator of the Beginning.
בְּרָכוֹת וְהוֹדָאוֹת Blessings and thanksgivings
לְשִׁמְךָ הַגָּדוֹל וְהַקָּדוֹשׁ to Your great and holy Name
עַל שֶׁהֶחֱיִיתָֽנוּ וְקִיַּמְתָּֽנוּ for keeping us alive, and sustaining us;
כֵּן תְּחַיֵּֽינוּ so may You always keep us alive
וּתְקַיְּ֒מֵֽנוּ and sustain us,
וְתֶאֱסוֹף גָּלֻיּוֹתֵֽינוּ and gather our exiles
לְחַצְרוֹת קָדְשֶֽׁךָ to the Courtyards of Your Sanctuary
לִשְׁמוֹר חֻקֶּֽיךָ to observe Your statutes

כְּשֶׁעָמְ֒דָה מַלְכוּת יָוָן הָרְ֒שָׁעָה When the evil Greek kingdom rose up
עַל עַמְּ֒ךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל against Your people Israel
לְהַשְׁכִּיחָם תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ to make them forget Your Torah
וּלְהַעֲבִירָם and to turn them away
מֵחֻקֵּי רְצוֹנֶֽךָ. from the statutes of Your will—
וְאַתָּה בְּרַחֲמֶֽיךָ הָרַבִּים You, in Your abundant mercy
עָמַֽדְתָּ לָהֶם בְּעֵת צָרָתָם stood by them in their time of distress,
רַֽבְתָּ אֶת רִיבָם You defended their cause,
דַּֽנְתָּ אֶת דִּינָם You judged their grievances,
נָקַֽמְתָּ אֶת נִקְמָתָם You avenged them.
מָסַֽרְתָּ גִבּוֹרִים You delivered the mighty
בְּיַד חַלָּשִׁים into the hands of the weak,
וְרַבִּים בְּיַד מְעַטִּים many into the hands of the few,
וּטְמֵאִים בְּיַד טְהוֹרִים defiled people into the hands of the undefiled,
וּרְשָׁעִים בְּיַד צַדִּיקִים the wicked into the hands of the righteous,
וְזֵדִים בְּיַד and insolent [sinners] into the hands of
עוֹסְ֒קֵי תוֹרָתֶֽךָ diligent students of Your Torah.
וּלְךָ עָשִֽׂיתָ And You made Yourself
שֵׁם גָּדוֹל וְקָדוֹשׁ בְּעוֹלָמֶֽךָ a great and sanctified Name in Your world.
וּלְעַמְּ֒ךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל And for Your people, Israel,
עָשִֽׂיתָ תְּשׁוּעָה גְדוֹלָה You performed a great deliverance
וּפֻרְקָן כְּהַיּוֹם הַזֶּה and redemption unto this very day.
וְאַחַר כַּךְ בָּֽאוּ בָנֶֽיךָ Afterwards, Your sons entered
לִדְבִיר בֵּיתֶֽךָ the Holy of Holies of Your Abode,
וּפִנּוּ אֶת הֵיכָלֶֽךָ cleaned Your Temple,
וְטִהֲרוּ אֶת מִקְדָּשֶֽׁךָ purified Your Sanctuary,
וְהִדְלִֽיקוּ נֵרוֹת and kindled lights
בְּחַצְרוֹת קָדְשֶֽׁךָ in the Courtyards of Your Sanctuary,
וְקָבְ֒עוּ שְׁמוֹנַת יְמֵי חֲנֻכָּה אֵֽלּוּ and designated these eight days of Chanukah
לְהוֹדוֹת וּלְהַלֵּל לְשִׁמְךָ הַגָּדוֹל: to thank and praise Your great Name.
וְעַל כֻּלָּם And for all the foregoing
יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִתְרוֹמַם וְיִתְנַשֵׂא blessed, exalted and extolled
שִׁמְ֒ךָ מַלְכֵּֽנוּ your Name, our King
תָּמִיד לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד: constantly, forever and ever.
(Between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, add:
וּכְתֹב לְחַיִּים טוֹבִים Inscribe for a good life
כָּל בְּנֵי בְרִיתֶֽךָ: all the children of Your covenant.)
If you forget to say this, you need not go back and repeat it. If you became aware of the omission before concluding the blessing, you can say it at that time.
וְכֹל הַחַיִּים יוֹדֽוּךָ סֶּֽלָה And all the living shall thank You forever
וִיהַלְ֒לוּ וְיבָרְ֒כוּ and praise and bless
אֶת שִׁמְ֒ךָ הַגָּדוֹל בְּאֱמֶת לְעוֹלָם Your great Name with sincerity forever;
כִּי טוֹב for You are goodness—
הָאֵל יְשׁוּעָתֵֽנוּ the Almighty, Who is our deliverance
וְעֶזְרָתֵֽנוּ סֶֽלָה and our help forever—
הָאֵל הַטּוֹב: the benevolent Almighty.
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה Blessed are You, Adonoy,
הַטּוֹב שִׁמְ֒ךָ “The Beneficent” is Your Name

ברכת כהנים Birkas Kohanim
אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ בָּרְ֒כֵֽנוּ Our God, and God of our fathers, bless us
בַבְּ֒רָכָה הַמְּ֒שֻׁלֶּֽשֶׁת בַּתּוֹרָה with the threefold blessing of the Torah,
הַכְּ֒תוּבָה עַל יְדֵי משֶׁה עַבְדֶּֽךָ, written by the hand of Moses, Your servant,
הָאֲמוּרָה מִפִּי אַהֲרֹן pronounced from the mouth of Aaron
וּבָנָיו כֹּהֲנִים עַם קְדוֹשֶֽׁךָ and his sons, the kohanim, Your holy people;
כָּאָמוּר: as it is said:
יְבָרֶכְךָ יְהֹוָה וְיִשְׁמְ֒רֶֽךָ: Adonoy bless you and guard you.
יָאֵר יְהֹוָה פָּנָיו אֵלֶֽיךָ Adonoy shine His countenance upon you
וִיחֻנֶּֽךָ: and be gracious unto you.
יִשָּׂא יְהֹוָה פָּנָיו אֵלֶֽיךָ Adonoy turn His countenance toward you
וְיָשֵׂם לְךָ שָׁלוֹם: and grant you peace.
After Birkas Kohanim the congregation says:
אַדִּיר בַּמָּרוֹם שׁוֹכֵן בִּגְ֒בוּרָה, Mighty One on high who dwells in might,
אַתָּה שָׁלוֹם וְשִׁמְ֒ךָ שָׁלוֹם. You are peace and Your Name is peace.
יְהִי רָצוֹן שֶׁתָּשִׂים עָלֵֽינוּ May it be Your will that You grant us
וְעַל כָּל עַמְּ֒ךָ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל and all of Your people, the House of Israel
חַיִּים וּבְ֒רָכָה life and blessing
לְמִשְׁמֶֽרֶת שָׁלוֹם: for a safeguard to peace.
שלום PRAYER FOR PEACE
שִׂים שָׁלוֹם טוֹבָה וּבְ֒רָכָה Grant peace, goodness, and blessing,
חַיִים חֵן וָחֶֽסֶד וְרַחֲמִים life favor, kindness and compassion
עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמֶּֽךָ, upon us and upon all Israel, Your people.
בָּרְ֒כֵֽנוּ אָבִֽינוּ כֻּלָּֽנוּ כְּאֶחָד Bless us, our Father, all of us as one
בְּאוֹר פָּנֶֽיךָ with the light of Your countenance.
כִּי בְאוֹר פָּנֶֽיךָ For by the light of Your countenance
נָתַֽתָּ לָּֽנוּ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ You gave us Adonoy our God,
תּוֹרַת חַיִּים וְאַהֲבַת חֶֽסֶד a Torah of life and the love of kindliness,
וּצְ֒דָקָה וּבְ֒רָכָה וְרַחֲמִים righteousness, blessing, compassion,

וְטוֹב יִהְיֶה בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ And may it be good in Your sight

וּלְ֒בָרֵךְ אֶת כָּל עַמְּ֒ךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל and to bless Your people Israel,
בְּכָל עֵת וּבְכָל שָׁעָה at all times and at every moment

וְקַלְקֵל מַחֲשַׁבְתָּם: and frustrate their intention.

מַלְכֵּֽנוּ וֵאלֹהֵֽינוּ Our King and our Father,
יַחֵד שִׁמְ֒ךָ בְּעוֹלָמֶֽךָ, unify Your Name in Your world,
בְּנֵה עִירְ֒ךָ, יַסֵּד בֵּיתֶֽךָ, rebuild Your city, establish Your house
וְשַׁכְלֵל הֵיכָלֶֽךָ. and perfect your sanctuary.
וְקַבֵּץ קִבּוּץ גָּלֻיּוֹת, Gather our exiles,

יִתְגַּדַּל וְיִתְקַדַּשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא Exalted and sanctified be His great Name

כִרְעוּתֵהּ according to His will

דְכָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל. of the entire House of Israel,
בַּעֲגָלָא וּבִזְמַן קָרִיב. speedily and in the near future—
וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן: and say Amein.
יְהֵא שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא מְבָרַךְ May His great Name be blessed
לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמַיָּא: forever and for all eternity.
יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִשְׁתַּבַּח Blessed and praised,
וְיִתְפָּאַר וְיִתְרוֹמַם וְיִתְנַשֵּׂא glorified, and exalted and uplifted,
וְיִתְהַדָּר וְיִתְעַלֶּה וְיִתְהַלָּל honored and elevated and extolled
שְׁמֵהּ דְקֻדְשָׁא. בְּרִיךְ הוּא be the Name of the Holy One, blessed is He;
לְעֵֽלָּא (בעשי"ת וּלְעֵֽלָּא מִכָּל) above (Shabbos Shuva: far above)
מִן כָּל בִּרְכָתָא וְשִׁירָתָא. all the blessings and hymns,
תֻּשְׁבְּ֒חָתָא וְנֶחֱמָתָא. praises and consolations
דַּאֲמִירָן בְּעָלְמָא. which we utter in the world—
וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן. and say Amein.
תִּתְקַבֵּל May there be acceptance
צְלוֹתְ֒הוֹן וּבָעוּתְ֒הוֹן of the prayers and supplications
דְּכָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל of the entire House of Israel
קֳדָם אֲבוּהוֹן דִּי בִשְׁמַיָּא. before their Father in heaven.
וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן: And say, Amein.
יְהֵא שְׁלָמָא רַבָּא מִן שְׁמַיָּא May there be abundant peace from heaven
וְחַיִּים טוֹבִים and good life
עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל. for us and for all Israel,
וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן: —and say Amein.
עוֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו He Who makes peace in His high heavens
הוּא יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם may He, make peace
עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל. for us and for all Israel,
וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן: —and say Amein.
