The Talmud (Maseches Menachos 110a) states: Rabbi Isaac asked, "Why does it say (Leviticus 6:18; 7:1) This is the law of the sin-offering, this is the law of the guilt-offering? To teach us that when one studies the law of the sin-offering, it is considered as though he had actually brought it on the Altar, and when one studies the law of the guilt-offering, it is as though he actually brought it on the Altar."
Rather than merely recite the following portions, study them and attempt to learn about the laws and significance of the various sacrifices.
Exodus 30:17-21
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהֹוָה אֶל־משֶׁה לֵּאמֹר: And Adonoy spoke to Moses to say:
וְעָשִֽׂיתָ כִּיּוֹר נְחֽשֶׁת Make a copper laver
וְכַנּוֹ נְחֽשֶׁת לְרָחְצָה and a copper base, for washing;
וְנָתַתָּ אֹתוֹ and place it
בֵּין־אֹֽהֶל מוֹעֵד וּבֵין הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ between the Tent of Meeting and the Altar,
וְנָתַתָּ שָֽׁמָּה מָֽיִם: and put water in it.
וְרָחֲצוּ אַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו מִמֶּֽנּוּ Aaron and his sons will wash from it,
אֶת־יְדֵיהֶם וְאֶת־רַגְלֵיהֶם: their hands and their feet.1His right hand was held above his right foot, the left hand above the left foot and all were washed simultaneously.—Maseches Zevachim 59
בְּבֹאָם אֶל־אֹֽהֶל מוֹעֵד Upon entering the Tent of Meeting
יִרְחֲצוּ־מַֽיִם וְלֹא יָמֻֽתוּ they will wash with water that they not die,
אוֹ בְגִשְׁתָּם אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ or whenever they approach the Altar
לְשָׁרֵת לְהַקְטִיר אִשֶּׁה לַיהוָֹה: to serve, to burn a fire-offering to Adonoy.
וְרָחֲצוּ יְדֵיהֶם וְרַגְלֵיהֶם They will wash their hands and feet
וְלֹא יָמֻֽתוּ that they not die;
וְהָיְ֒תָה לָהֶם חָק־עוֹלָם and this is for them a perpetual statute
לוֹ וּלְזַרְעוֹ for him [Aaron], and his descendants
לְדֹרֹתָם: for all their generations.
The following Scripture section describes the removal of the ashes which had accumulated on the Altar from the daily burnt-offering of the previous afternoon. This removal was performed prior to the daily morning burnt-offering. The passage below also describes the ritual of maintaining the wood pyres which were always burning on the Altar.
Leviticus 6:1
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהֹוָה אֶל־משֶׁה לֵּאמֹר: And Adonoy spoke to Moses to say:
צַו אֶת־אַהֲרֹן וְאֶת־בָּנָיו לֵאמֹר Command Aaron and his sons to say,
זֹאת תּוֹרַת הָעֹלָה this is the law of the burnt-offering.
הִוא הָעֹלָה This is the burnt-offering
עַל מוֹקְ֒דָה [which must remain] on its pyre,
עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ כָּל־הַלַּֽיְלָה upon the Altar all night,
עַד־הַבֹּֽקֶר until morning,
וְאֵשׁ הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ and the fire of the Altar
תּוּקַד בּוֹ: will be kept burning on it.
וְלָבַשׁ הַכֹּהֵן מִדּוֹ בַד The Kohein will don his linen garment,
וּמִכְנְ֒סֵי־בַד יִלְבַּשׁ עַל־בְּשָׂרוֹ and linen breeches upon his flesh,
וְהֵרִים אֶת־הַדֶּֽשֶׁן and he will remove the ashes
אֲשֶׁר תֹּאכַל הָאֵשׁ when the fire consumes
אֶת הָעֹלָה עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ the burnt-offering on the Altar;
וְשָׂמוֹ אֵֽצֶל הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ: and he will place them beside the Altar.
וּפָשַׁט אֶת־בְּגָדָיו He will remove his garments
וְלָבַשׁ בְּגָדִים אֲחֵרִים and don other garments,
וְהוֹצִיא אֶת־הַדֶּֽשֶׁן and carry the ashes
אֶל־מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה outside the camp
אֶל־מָקוֹם טָהוֹר: to an undefiled place.
וְהָאֵשׁ עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ תּֽוּקַד־בּוֹ The fire upon the altar will be kept burning,
לֹא תִכְבֶּה it may not be extinguished.
וּבִעֵר עָלֶֽיהָ הַכֹּהֵן עֵצִים And the Kohein will burn wood on it
בַּבֹּֽקֶר בַּבֹּֽקֶר every morning,
וְעָרַךְ עָלֶֽיהָ הָעֹלָה and arrange on it the burnt-offering,
וְהִקְטִיר עָלֶֽיהָ חֶלְבֵי הַשְּׁ֒לָמִים: and burn on it the fats of the peace-offerings.
אֵשׁ תָּמִיד A constant fire
תּוּקַד עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ will be kept burning on the Altar,
לֹא תִכְבֶּה: it may not be extinguished.
