The name, Purim, comes from the Hebrew word for “lots”. The same letters appear in the name of another Jewish holiday which seems like the complete opposite of Purim. The rabbis, though, found a connection between the two holidays and said that in the future the serious holiday will be changed into a happier one, like Purim.
