(עח) כִּי הִנֵּה כַּחֹֽמֶר בְּיַד הַיּוֹצֵר. בִּרְצוֹתוֹ מַרְחִיב וּבִרְצוֹתוֹ מְקַצֵּר. כֵּן אֲנַֽחְנוּ בְּיָדְךָ חֶֽסֶד נוֹצֵר. לַבְּרִית הַבֵּט וְאַל תֵּֽפֶן לַיֵּֽצֶר:

(78) Like clay in the hands of the potter, if he wills, he can expand it, if he wills, he can contract it; so too are we in Your hand, Preserver of kindliness⁵⁵See Shemos 34:7. According to Rashi, Hashem preserves the righteousness of man for two thousand years. Heed the covenant⁵⁶This refers to the “thirteen merciful attributes of Hashem” mentioned in Shemos 34:6—7. The Talmud, Maseches Rosh Hashana, 17b, states “When the Jewish people recite these attributes in Hashem’s Presence, they are not turned away empty-handed.” and not the accuser!

(א) אַף־לְ֭זֹאת יֶחֱרַ֣ד לִבִּ֑י וְ֝יִתַּ֗ר מִמְּקוֹמֽוֹ׃ (ב) שִׁמְע֤וּ שָׁמ֣וֹעַ בְּרֹ֣גֶז קֹל֑וֹ וְ֝הֶ֗גֶה מִפִּ֥יו יֵצֵֽא׃ (ג) תַּֽחַת־כָּל־הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם יִשְׁרֵ֑הוּ וְ֝אוֹר֗וֹ עַל־כַּנְפ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (ד) אַחֲרָ֤יו ׀ יִשְׁאַג־ק֗וֹל יַ֭רְעֵם בְּק֣וֹל גְּאוֹנ֑וֹ וְלֹ֥א יְ֝עַקְּבֵ֗ם כִּֽי־יִשָּׁמַ֥ע קוֹלֽוֹ׃ (ה) יַרְעֵ֤ם אֵ֣ל בְּ֭קוֹלוֹ נִפְלָא֑וֹת עֹשֶׂ֥ה גְ֝דֹל֗וֹת וְלֹ֣א נֵדָֽע׃ (ו) כִּ֤י לַשֶּׁ֨לַג ׀ יֹאמַ֗ר הֱוֵ֫א אָ֥רֶץ וְגֶ֥שֶׁם מָטָ֑ר וְ֝גֶ֗שֶׁם מִטְר֥וֹת עֻזּֽוֹ׃ (ז) בְּיַד־כָּל־אָדָ֥ם יַחְתּ֑וֹם לָ֝דַ֗עַת כָּל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י מַעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃ (ח) וַתָּבֹ֣א חַיָּ֣ה בְמוֹ־אָ֑רֶב וּבִמְע֖וֹנֹתֶ֣יהָ תִשְׁכֹּֽן׃ (ט) מִן־הַ֭חֶדֶר תָּב֣וֹא סוּפָ֑ה וּֽמִמְּזָרִ֥ים קָרָֽה׃ (י) מִנִּשְׁמַת־אֵ֥ל יִתֶּן־קָ֑רַח וְרֹ֖חַב מַ֣יִם בְּמוּצָֽק׃ (יא) אַף־בְּ֭רִי יַטְרִ֣יחַ עָ֑ב יָ֝פִ֗יץ עֲנַ֣ן אוֹרֽוֹ׃ (יב) וְה֤וּא מְסִבּ֨וֹת ׀ מִתְהַפֵּ֣ךְ בתחבולתו [בְּתַחְבּוּלֹתָ֣יו] לְפָעֳלָ֑ם כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְצַוֵּ֓ם ׀ עַל־פְּנֵ֖י תֵבֵ֣ל אָֽרְצָה׃ (יג) אִם־לְשֵׁ֥בֶט אִם־לְאַרְצ֑וֹ אִם־לְ֝חֶ֗סֶד יַמְצִאֵֽהוּ׃

Job 37:1-13

(1) Because of this, too, my heart quakes, And leaps from its place. (2) Just listen to the noise of His rumbling, To the sound that comes out of His mouth. (3) He lets it loose beneath the entire heavens— His lightning, to the ends of the earth. (4) After it, He lets out a roar; He thunders in His majestic voice. No one can find a trace of it by the time His voice is heard. (5) God thunders marvelously with His voice; He works wonders that we cannot understand. (6) He commands the snow, “Fall to the ground!” And the downpour of rain, His mighty downpour of rain, (7) Is as a sign on every man’s hand, That all men may know His doings. (8) Then the beast enters its lair, And remains in its den. (9) The storm wind comes from its chamber, And the cold from the constellations. (10) By the breath of God ice is formed, And the expanse of water becomes solid. (11) He also loads the clouds with moisture And scatters His lightning-clouds. (12) He keeps turning events by His stratagems, That they might accomplish all that He commands them Throughout the inhabited earth, (13) Causing each of them to happen to His land, Whether as a scourge or as a blessing.

(ב) רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר אָמַר וְהוּא מְסִבּוֹת מִתְהַפֵּךְ. הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא מְסַבֵּב סִבּוּבִין וְאַיְיתֵי עוֹבָדִין בְּעָלְמָא לְאִתְקָיְימָא, וּלְבָתַר דְּחֲשִׁיבוּ בְּנֵי נָשָׁא דְּיִתְקָיְימוּן אִנּוּן עוֹבָדִין, קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא מְהַפֵּךְ לוֹן לְאִנּוּן עוֹבָדִין מִכְּמָה דְּהֲווּ בְּקַדְמִיתָא. בְּתַחְבּוּלוֹתָיו. בְּתַחְבּוּלָתוֹ כְּתִיב כְּהַאי אוֹמָנָא דְּעָבִיד מָאנִין דְּחַרְסָא. בְּעוֹד דְּהַהִיא טִיקְלָא אִסְתַּחֲרַת קַמֵיהּ. חָשִׁיב לְמֶעְבַּד כְּגַוְונָא דָּא עָבִיד. חָשִׁיב לְמֶעְבַּד כְּגַוְונָא אָחֳרָא עָבִיד. מְהַפֵּךְ מָאנָא דָּא לְמָאנָא דָא, בְּגִין דְּהַהוּא טִיקְלָא אִסְתַּחֲרַת קַמֵּיהּ. כָּךְ קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא מְהַפֵּךְ עוֹבָדוֹי דְּאִיהוּ עָבִיד.

(ג) בְּתַחְבּוּלֹתָו חָסֵר יו''ד, וּמַאן אִיהוּ, דָּא בֵּי דִינָא לְתַתָּא דְּאִיהוּ טִקְלָא דְּאִסְתַּחֲרַת קַמֵּיהּ, וְעַל דָּא מְהַפֵּךְ מָאנִין מִמָּאנָא דָא לְמָאנָא אָחֳרָא. וְכָל דָּא כְּפִי פָּעֳלָם דִּבְנֵי נָשָׁא, אִי מְטִיבִין בְּנֵי נָשָׁא עוֹבָדֵיהוֹן, הַהוּא טִקְלָא דְּסַחֲרָא אַסְחָרַת לוֹן לְיָמִינָא, וּכְדֵין אִתְעֲבִידוּ עוֹבָדִין בְּעָלְמָא לְאוֹטָבָא לוֹן כְּדְקָא יְאוּת. וְטִיקְלָא אַסְחָרַת תָּדִיר וְלָא שָׁכִיךְ בְּהַהוּא סִטְרָא דְּיָמִינָא וְעָלְמָא מִתְגַּלְגְּלָא בֵּיהּ. אָתוּ בְּנֵי נָשָׁא לְאַבְאָשָׁא,

(א) תַּחְבּוּלָתוֹ דְּאַסְחַר תָּדִיר וְהֲוָה קָיְימָא בְּאַסְחָרוּתָא דְּיָמִינָא, קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא אַסְחַר לֵיהּ בְּסִטְרָא דִּשְׂמָאלָא וּמְהַפֵּךְ מְסִבּוֹת וּמָאנִין דְּהֲווּ בְּקַדְמִיתָא לְהַהוּא סְטַר שְׂמָאלָא.

(ב) וּכְדֵין טִקְלָא אַסְחָרָא וְאִתְעֲבִידוּ עוֹבָדִין בְּעָלְמָא לְאַבְאָשָׁא לוֹן לִבְנֵי נָשָׁא. וְטִקְלָא אַסְחַר לְהַהוּא סִטְרָא עַד דִּבְנֵי נָשָׁא תָּיְיבִין לְאוֹטָבָא עוֹבָדֵיהוֹן. וְטִקְלָא קָיְימָא בְּעוֹבָדִין דִּבְנֵי נָשָׁא. וְעַל דָּא בְּתַחְבּוּלָתוֹ לְפָעֳלָם, וְלָא קָיְימָא תָּדִיר.
