Understanding the Beis Hamikdash

(5) Rabbi Moshe Alshich’s commentary on Exodus 25,8 in which ‎G’d instructs the Jewish people through their leader Moses to ‎build for Him a Tabernacle, (residence) on earth in their midst, ‎was not intended to imply that this signaled G’d’s move from the ‎celestial regions to earth, is well known. The purpose of the ‎Tabernacle is to signal that the principal Presence of G’d was to be ‎on earth, i.e. amongst the Jewish people, as is clear from the ‎words: ‎ושכנתי בתוכם‎, “I shall take up residence amongst them;” ‎the operative word in that line is the word ‎בתוכם‎, which ought to ‎be translated as “within them,” within the hearts and minds of ‎the Israelites, as opposed to G’d’s presence being confined to a ‎Temple.

Sometimes this character trait of G-d is referred to as "Shechinah", and it dwelled amongst the Jews consistently from the times of the construction of the tabernacle.

Now you must understand an important principle. Know, that in the beginning of creation, the primary dwelling place of G-d was in the lower worlds...and when the Shechina was in this world the heavens and earth were united, as it states "Vayichulu HaShamayim Vi'Ha'aretz", meaning they were filled with eachother and intertwined with each other. And all the pipelines and flows were fully functional flowing downwards from above, as HaShem filled the world completely. However, Adam came and sinned, thereby messing up the order and destroying the pipelines, stopping the flows and removing the Shechina. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob began to bring it back down again from above...but they didn't bring it all the way down permanently. Moses came and all the Jews with him and they build a tabernacle and vessels and they fixed the pipelines and flows and the Shechina again began dwelling in the lower worlds....until eventually the Temple was built and from therethe pipelines lead outwards to all the countries in the world.
