(1) The Holy One appeared to him by the terebinths of Mamre; he was sitting at the entrance of the tent as the day grew hot. (2) Looking up, he saw three men standing near him. As soon as he saw them, he ran from the entrance of the tent to greet them and, bowing to the ground, (3) he said, “Adonai, if it please you, do not go on past your servant.
And furthermore, it was taught in a baraita: Three people who were walking on the road should not walk in single file but should walk with the teacher in the middle, the greater of the students on his right, and the lesser of them to his left. And so too do we find with the three ministering angels who came to Abraham: Michael, the greatest of the three, was in the middle, Gabriel was to his right, and Raphael was to his left.
(1) Ben Zoma said:Who is wise? They who learn from every human, as it is said: “From all who taught me have I gained understanding” (Psalms 119:99). ...Who is one who is honored? They who honor their fellow human beings as it is said: “For I honor those that honor Me, but those who spurn Me shall be dishonored” (I Samuel 2:30).
IN THE HEAT OF THE DAY — The Holy One, blessed be G*d, brought the sun out of its sheath that he (Abraham) might not be troubled by travelers; and when The Holy One saw that he was grieved that no travelers came G*d brought to him angels in the form of men (Bava Metzia 86b).
..... Rav said on a related note: Hospitality toward guests is greater than receiving the Face of Sh'chinah, as it is written: “And he said: Adonai, if now I have found favor in Your sight, please do not pass etc... (Genesis 18:3). Abraham requested that God, the Divine Presence, wait for him while he tended to his guests appropriately!
R’ Jonathan Sacks z'l' “Abraham,... knew the paradoxical truth that to live the life of faith is to see the trace of God in the face of the stranger. It is easy to receive the Divine Presence when God appears as God. What is difficult is to sense the Divine Presence when it comes disguised as three anonymous passers-by.
Avraham was already accustomed to learning Torah from Melchitzedek, Genesis 14: 19-21
(6) And Malchitzedek king of Shalem – This is what is written ... The Rabbanan say that Torah was revealed to him as it says, “"Come, partake of my bread and drink of the wine I have mingled.” (Mishle 9:5) ‘and he was a priest to the Most High God’ ...

Teach Me
Teach me
The Torah
That G-d taught
Only to you,
And I will
Teach you
The Torah
That G-d taught
Only to me.
For, certainly,
G-d taught you secrets
In order for you
To teach me,
And G-d taught me secrets
In order for me
To teach you,
So that our hearts
Would cleave to each other’s
Through G-d’s holy word.

.....The visitors opened by bringing Torah to Master of the House, and to the mouths of the visitors so did He answer from the revealed Torah to the Master of the house.
