Blessed art Thou, Lord our God, Ruler of the Universe, who hast commanded us to affix the Mezuzah.

(8) When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, so that you do not bring bloodguilt on your house if anyone should fall from it.

(10) When your God יהוה brings you into the land that was sworn to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to be assigned to you—great and flourishing cities that you did not build,(11) houses full of all good things that you did not fill, hewn cisterns that you did not hew, vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant—and you eat your fill,(12) take heed that you do not forget יהוה who freed you from the land of Egypt, the house of bondage.

(25) The God of your father’s [house], who helps you,
And Shaddai who blesses you
With blessings of heaven above,
Blessings of the deep that couches below,
Blessings of the breast and womb.

(12) Of Benjamin he said:
Beloved of יהוה,
He rests securely beside [God],
Who protects him always,
As he rests between God’s shoulders.

(1) Now, if you obey your God יהוה, to observe faithfully all the divine commandments which I enjoin upon you this day, your God יהוה will set you high above all the nations of the earth.(2) All these blessings shall come upon you and take effect, if you will but heed the word of your God יהוה:(3) Blessed shall you be in the city and blessed shall you be in the country.(4) Blessed shall be your issue from the womb, your produce from the soil, and the offspring of your cattle, the calving of your herd and the lambing of your flock.(5) Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.(6) Blessed shall you be in your comings and blessed shall you be in your goings.(7) יהוה will put to rout before [your army] the enemies who attack you; they will march out against you by a single road, but flee from you by many roads.(8) יהוה will ordain blessings for you upon your barns and upon all your undertakings: you will be blessed in the land that your God יהוה is giving you.

(53) Blessed is the LORD forever;
Amen and Amen.

When I spoke to the prophets;
For I granted many visions,
And spoke parables through the prophets.

(7) Indeed, my Lord GOD does nothing
Without having revealed His purpose
To His servants the prophets.(8) A lion has roared,
Who can but fear?

(16) Have put My words in your mouth
And sheltered you with My hand;^-h
I, who planted the skies and made firm the earth,
Have said to Zion: You are My people!

(11) Then the word of the LORD came to Solomon,(12) “With regard to this House you are building—if you follow My laws and observe My rules and faithfully keep My commandments, I will fulfill for you the promise that I gave to your father David:(13) I will abide among the children of Israel, and I will never forsake My people Israel.”

Extend the size of your dwelling,^-a
Do not stint!
Lengthen the ropes, and drive the pegs firm.

(21) They shall build houses and dwell in them,
They shall plant vineyards and enjoy their fruit.(22) They shall not build for others to dwell in,
Or plant for others to enjoy.
For the days of My people shall be
As long as the days of a tree,
My chosen ones shall outlive
The work of their hands.(23) They shall not toil to no purpose;
They shall not bear children for terror,^-j
But they shall be a people blessed by the LORD,
And their offspring shall remain with them.(24) Before they pray, I will answer;
While they are still speaking, I will respond.

(4) Thus said the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, to the whole community which I exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon:(5) Build houses and live in them, plant gardens and eat their fruit.(6) Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters. Multiply there, do not decrease.(7) And seek the welfare of the city to which I have exiled you and pray to the LORD in its behalf; for in its prosperity you shall prosper.

(27) Because You, O LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him, Your servant has ventured to offer this prayer to You.(28) And now, O Lord GOD, You are God and Your words will surely come true, and You have made this gracious promise to Your servant.(29) Be pleased, therefore, to bless Your servant’s house, that it abide before You forever; for You, O Lord GOD, have spoken. May Your servant’s house be blessed forever by Your blessing.”

Zion shall be redeemed by justice,
And they that return to her by righteousness.

For instruction shall come forth from Zion,
The word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

raise a shout for our rock and deliverer;(2) let us come into His presence with praise;

(2) I extol You, O LORD,
for You have lifted me up,
and not let my enemies rejoice over me.(3) O LORD, my God,
I cried out to You,
and You healed me.(4) O LORD, You brought me up from Sheol,
preserved me from going down into the Pit.
(5) O you faithful of the LORD, sing to Him,
and praise His holy name.(6) For He is angry but a moment,
and when He is pleased there is life.
One may lie down weeping at nightfall;^-b
but at dawn there are shouts of joy.
(7) When I was untroubled,
I thought, “I shall never be shaken,”(8) for You, O LORD, when You were pleased,
made [me] firm as a mighty mountain.
When You hid Your face,
I was terrified.(9) I called to You, O LORD;
to my Lord I made appeal,(10) “What is to be gained from my death,
from my descent into the Pit?
Can dust praise You?
Can it declare Your faithfulness?(11) Hear, O LORD, and have mercy on me;
O LORD, be my help!”
(12) You turned my lament into dancing,
you undid my sackcloth and girded me with joy,(13) that [my] whole being might sing hymns to You endlessly;
O LORD my God, I will praise You forever.

Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain on it;
unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchman keeps vigil in vain.(2) In vain do you rise early
and stay up late,
you who toil for the bread you eat;
He provides as much for His loved ones while they sleep.^-a(3) Sons are the provision of the LORD;
the fruit of the womb, His reward.(4) Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are sons born to a man in his youth.(5) Happy is the man who fills his quiver with them;
they shall not be put to shame
when they contend with the enemy in the gate.

(1)All of the Jewish people, even sinners and those who are liable to be executed with a court-imposed death penalty, have a share in the World-to-Come, as it is stated: “And your people also shall be all righteous, they shall inherit the land forever; the branch of My planting, the work of My hands, for My name to be glorified” (Isaiah 60:21).

(3) Similarly, when one built a new house or purchased new vessels, he recites: Blessed…Who has given us life, sustained us, and brought us to this time. The mishna articulates a general principle: One recites a blessing for the bad that befalls him just as he does for the good. In other words, one recites the appropriate blessing for the trouble that he is experiencing at present despite the fact that it may conceal some positive element in the future. Similarly, one must recite a blessing for the good that befalls him just as for the bad. The mishna states: And one who cries out over the past in an attempt to change that which has already occurred, it is a vain prayer. For example, one whose wife was pregnant and he says: May it be God’s will that my wife will give birth to a male child, it is a vain prayer. Or one who was walking on the path home and he heard the sound of a scream in the city, and he says: May it be God’s will that this scream will not be from my house, it is a vain prayer. In both cases, the event already occurred.

(1) With regard to one who builds on Shabbat, thereby violating a prohibition in a primary category of prohibited labor, how much must he build to be liable to bring a sin-offering? The Sages said: One who builds is liable for building any amount. And one who chisels, or strikes with a hammer or with an adze, or one who drills a hole of any size on Shabbat, is liable. This is the principle: Anyone who performs a prohibited labor and his labor endures on Shabbat is liable. And so too, Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel says: Even one who strikes an anvil with a sledgehammer during his labor has performed a constructive act and is liable, because he is as one who improves the labor that he is performing.

(12) Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi said: In the world to come the Holy One, Blessed be He, will make each righteous person inherit three hundred and ten worlds, for it is written: "That I may cause those that love me to inherit yesh (numerical value of; and that I may fill their treasuries" (Proverbs 8:21. Rabbi Shimon ben Halafta said: the Holy One, Blessed be He, found no vessel that could contain blessing for Israel save that of peace, as it is written: "The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace" (Psalms 29:11).
