(א) ועל ברכת תפילין אם הלכה כדברי הגאון הרי"ף, שאם לא סח בין תפלה לתפלה אינו מברך אלא להניח תפילין כשמניח של יד, ובהניחו ש"ר אינו מברך כלל, או הלכה כדברי הגאונים האומרים שאפי' לא סח צריך לברך על ש"ר על מצות תפילין, ואם סח מברך על ש"ר ב':
(ב) והשיבו לא בסבי טעמא ולא בדרדקי עצה, כי אברהם לא ידענו וישראל לא יכירנו, ואת בריתי אקים את יצחק, אחד קראתיו ובכורי אתנהו, גם ברוך יהיה:
En ce qui concerne la bénédiction des tefillin, j'ai demandé [dans mon rêve] si la loi suivait l'opinion de R. Isaac Alfasi, selon laquelle s'il n'y a pas eu d'interruption entre la mise des deux tefillin, il n'est pas nécessaire de réciter une bénédiction supplémentaire : c'est-à-dire que l'on récite la bénédiction "de mettre les tefillin" en mettant le premier sur le bras, et pour la tête, on ne dit rien du tout. Ou peut-être, la loi suit-elle ces guéonim qui disent que même si l'on n'a pas parlé entre les deux, on doit réciter la bénédiction 'sur le commandement des tefillin' avant de le mettre sur la tête, et si l'on a interrompu avec la parole, on récite deux bénédictions en le mettant sur la tête.
Ils répondirent : "La raison n'est pas avec les vieux, et le conseil n'est pas avec les jeunes". (Shabbat 89b:4) "Car Abraham ne nous connaît pas, Israël ne nous reconnaît pas" (Isaïe 63:16), plutôt "mon alliance sera faite avec Isaac". אביי ורבא דאמרי תרוייהו לא שח מברך אחת שח מברך שתים וכן הלכתא [והכי נמי אשכחן בירושלמי: כשהוא לובשן מברך אקב"ו להניח תפילין וש"מ דאינו מברך על שתיהן אלא א' וה"נ כתב רב האי גאון וה"נ כתב רב אחא משבחא ז"ל] וחזינא בהלכות גדולות בהא מילתא טעותא והלכתא כדכתבינן דלא מברך שתים אלא היכא דשח אבל לא שח אינו מברך אלא אחת :
