Short Meditative Guide to Shacharit/ Morning Service

Assiyah - first level, the physical awareness.

-I am alive! So many miracles. Hear your heartbeat, feel your breath.

Yetzirah- second level, emotional awareness.

-Allow song and poetry to make my heart sing and my soul soar

Beriyah -third level, enlightenment

I translated the Psalms and the liturgy in the way in which I experience them in my feeling consciousness. This does not offer the ‘pshat ’, the literal meaning of the words, but the devotional interpretation that can make it a prayer of the heart...

You may need to pick some paragraphs from each plane of prayer if all of it is too much for you. Some days you may wish to vary some parts and say others. This ‘siddur ’ is meant to help you stay in daily touch with God, to gain blessed assistance from God, to lighten your burdens, not to add to them.

Then recite some of the sentences of blessings and proceed with your daily tasks.
May you experience your praying as a blessed meeting with your God.

מוֹדָה/מוֹדֶה אֲנִי לְפָנֶיךָ
רוּחַ חַי וְקַיָּם׃

מַה־טֹּבוּ אֹהָלֶיךָ, יַעֲקֹב;

I worship You, HavaYah, our God, Cosmic Majesty. You formed me, a human being, so wisely.

You created in me all kinds of hollows and ducts, Inner organs and intestines.

As I am all transparent to You, it is apparent and clear, that if any of these that need to be open would clog, or any of these which need to be enclosed would seep,

I could not exist and live in Your sight, not even for a moment. So I am grateful And bless You, For healing me, In amazing ways.

Elohai, neshamah she-natata bi, tehorah hi!

I am grateful for this breath of life, this soul.

Blessed are You HavaYah, for returning soaaul breath to lifeless bodies.

6. Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu melech Ha-olam, asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu La-asok b'divrei Torah

Blessed are You, Havayah our God, Master of the Universe, You sanctify us with Your commandments and commanded us to be engrossed in the words of Torah:

I am here and ready to take upon myself

Hareini mekabel alai et mitzvat haBoreh, v'ahavta l'reiacha kamocha

the mitzvah to love my near one as I love myself.

7. How precious is Your love, Oh Holy One; we children of earth take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They will be filled from the abundance of Your House, and from the stream of Your delights You will give them to drink. For with You is the source of life, in Your light we see light. You stretch out Your love to those who know You, and Your righteousness to the straight of heart

8. In the name of G*d,

God of Yisra-El.

On my right is MikhaEl,

on my left Gavri-El,

in front of me Uri-El,

behind me Refa-El.

Above my head and inside me,

is Shechinah

כאיל תערג על אפיקי מים

9. As a gazelle yearns for streaming waters,

so does my soul yearn for you, God.

K'ayal Ta-arog al Afikay Mayim

Ken nafshi ta-arog eilecha YHVH

10.These are precepts for which no fixed measure is prescribed: [leaving] the corner [of a field unharvested], [the offering of] the first fruits, the appearance-offering, [performing] deeds of kindness, and the study of Torah.

These are precepts, the fruits of which humans enjoy in this world, [while] the principal is preserved for them in the World-to-Come.

They are: honoring father and mother, deeds of loving kindness,

early to the house of study morning evening,

providing hospitality to guests,

visiting the sick,

gathering with at weddings,

accompanying the dead,

concentrating on the meaning of prayers, making peace between people and between husband and wife— and the study of Torah is able to face them all.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לַשֶּֽׂכְוִי בִינָה לְהַבְחִין בֵּין יוֹם וּבֵין לָֽיְלָה:

בְּרוּכָה אַתּ יה אֱלֹתֵינוּ רוּחַ הָעוֹלָם שֶׁלֹּא עָשְׂתֳנִי גּוי

Barukh attah Havayah, I offer You thanks, Cosmic Majesty And worship You, For giving me the gift (rooster) to know day from night. (you may repeat bold words to continue)

B'rukha - For making me more than my body, emotions and ego, she-lo asani gavi

Barukh-For making me free, not enslaved!

B'rukha- For shaping my life in Your image.

Barukh-For giving sight to my eyes.

B'rukha — For giving me clothes to wear.

Barukh — For giving free movement to my limbs

B'rukha — For helping me to stand upright.

Barukh — For spreading earth over the waters.

Barukh — For leading my steps in the right direction.

וְאָהַבְתָּ אֵת יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ

בְּכָל֯־לְ֯בָבְ֒ךָ וּבְכָל־נַפְשְׁ֒ךָ

וּבְכָל־מְאֹדֶֽךָ:

וְהָיוּ הַדְּ֒בָרִים הָאֵֽלֶּה אֲשֶׁר֯ אָ֯נֹכִי מְצַוְּ֒ךָ הַיּוֹם עַל֯־לְ֯בָבֶֽךָ:

וְשִׁנַּנְתָּם לְבָנֶֽיךָ וְדִבַּרְתָּ בָּם

בְּשִׁבְתְּ֒ךָ בְּבֵיתֶֽךָ וּבְלֶכְתְּ֒ךָ בַדֶּֽרֶךְ וּבְשָׁכְבְּ֒ךָ וּבְקוּמֶֽךָ:

וּקְשַׁרְתָּם לְאוֹת עַל֯־יָ֯דֶֽךָ

וְהָיוּ לְטֹטָפֹת בֵּין עֵינֶֽיךָ:

וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל־מְזֻזוֹת בֵּיתֶֽךָ

וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ:

וְהָיָה אִם־שָׁמֹֽעַ תִּשְׁמְ֒עוּ אֶל־מִצְוֹתַי אֲשֶׁר֯ אָ֯נֹכִי מְצַוֶּה אֶתְכֶם הַיּוֹם

לְאַהֲבָה אֶת־יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם וּלְעָבְדוֹ

בְּכָל֯־לְ֯בַבְכֶם וּבְכָל־נַפְשְׁ֒כֶם:

וְנָתַתִּי מְטַר֯־אַ֯רְצְ֒כֶם בְּעִתּוֹ֯

י֯וֹרֶה וּמַלְקוֹשׁ וְאָסַפְתָּ דְגָנֶֽךָ

וְתִירשְׁ֒ךָ וְיִצְהָרֶֽךָ:

וְנָתַתִּי עֵֽשֶׂב֯ בְּ֯שָׂדְ֒ךָ לִבְהֶמְתֶּֽךָ

וְאָכַלְתָּ וְשָׂבָֽעְתָּ:

הִשָּׁמְ֒רוּ לָכֶם פֶּן֯־יִ֯פְתֶּה לְבַבְכֶם

וְסַרְתֶּם וַעֲבַדְתֶּם אֱלֹהִים֯ אֲ֯חֵרִים וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶם לָהֶם:

וְחָרָה אַף־יְהֹוָה בָּכֶם

וְעָצַר֯ אֶ֯ת־הַשָּׁמַֽיִם

וְלֹּא֯־יִ֯הְיֶה מָטָר

וְהָאֲדָמָה לֹא תִתֵּן אֶת֯־יְ֯בוּלָהּ

וַאֲבַדְתֶּם֯ מְ֯הֵרָה

מֵעַל הָאָֽרֶץ הַטֹּבָה

אֲשֶׁר֯ יְ֯הֹוָה נֹתֵן לָכֶם:

וְשַׂמְתֶּם֯ אֶ֯ת־דְּבָרַי֯ אֵֽ֯לֶּה עַל֯־לְ֯בַבְכֶם וְעַל־נַפְשְׁ֒כֶם וּקְשַׁרְתֶּם֯ אֹ֯תָם לְאוֹת עַל֯־יֶ֯דְכֶם וְהָיוּ לְטוֹטָפֹת בֵּין עֵינֵיכֶם: וְלִמַּדְתֶּם֯ אֹ֯תָם אֶת־בְּנֵיכֶם לְדַבֵּר בָּם בְּשִׁבְתְּ֒ךָ בְּבֵיתֶֽךָ וּבְלֶכְתְּ֒ךָ בַדֶּֽרֶךְ וּבְשָׁכְבְּ֒ךָ וּבְקוּמֶֽךָ: וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל־מְזוּזוֹת בֵּיתֶֽךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ: לְמַֽעַן֯ יִ֯רְבּוּ יְמֵיכֶם וִימֵי בְנֵיכֶם עַל הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע יְהֹוָה לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶם לָתֵת לָהֶם כִּימֵי הַשָּׁמַֽיִם עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ:

וַֽיֹּאמֶר֯ יְ֯הֹוָה֯ אֶ֯ל־משֶׁה לֵּאמֹר: דַּבֵּר֯ אֶ֯ל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם וְעָשׂוּ לָהֶם צִיצִת עַל־כַּנְפֵי בִגְ֒דֵיהֶם לְדֹרֹתָם

וְנָתְ֒נוּ עַל־צִיצִת הַכָּנָף֯ פְּ֯תִיל תְּכֵֽלֶת:

וְהָיָה לָכֶם לְצִיצִת

וּרְאִיתֶם֯ אֹ֯תוֹ

וּזְכַרְתֶּם֯ אֶ֯ת־כָּל־מִצְוֹת֯ יְ֯הֹוָה

וַעֲשִׂיתֶם֯ אֹ֯תָם

וְלֹא תָתֽוּרוּ אַחֲרֵי לְבַבְכֶם וְאַחֲרֵי עֵינֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר֯־אַ֯תֶּם זֹנִים֯ אַ֯חֲרֵיהֶם: לְמַֽעַן תִּזְכְּ֒רוּ וַעֲשִׂיתֶם֯ אֶ֯ת־כָּל־מִצְוֹתָי וִהְיִיתֶם קְדשִׁים לֵאלֹהֵיכֶם:

אֲנִי יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם֯ אֲ֯שֶׁר הוֹצֵֽאתִי אֶתְכֶם֯ מֵ֯אֶֽרֶץ מִצְרַֽיִם לִהְיוֹת לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים֯ אֲ֯נִי יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם֯

Love Havayah/ Adonai, who is your God,
In what your heart is, In what you aspire to,
In what you have made your own.^[3]
May these values
Which I connect with your life,
Be implanted in your feelings.
May they become the norm
For your children: keep talking with them
In the privacy of your home, on the errands you run. May they help you relax.
And activate you to be productive.
Display them visibly on your arm.
Let them focus your attention.
See them at all transitions at home,
And in your environment.^[4]

24.

How good it will be
When you really listen to my directions,
Which I give to you today,
For loving Yah, who is your God,
And to act godly

With feeling and inspiration.
Your earthly needs will be met at the right time, in the right season.
You will reap what you planted
For your delight and health.
Also, your animals will have ample feed.
All of you will eat and be content.^[5]

Be careful -watch out! Don’t let your cravings delude you; Don’t become alienated;
Don’t let your cravings become your gods;
Don’t debase yourself to them,
Because the God-sense within you
Will become distorted.
Heaven will be shut to you,
Grace will not descend,
Earth will not yield her produce.
Your rushing will destroy you!
And Earth will not be able
To recover her good balance
In which God’s gifts manifest.^[6]

May these values of Mine, reside in your
Feelings and aspirations:
Marking what you produce,
Guiding what you perceive.
Teach them to your children
So that they are instructed
How to make their homes sacred;
And how they deal with *life even when you are depressed, and when you are elated.
Mark your entrances and exits with them, so you will be more aware.Then, you and your children, and their children, will live out on earth that divine promise given to your ancestors to live heavenly days right here on this earth.^[7]

The Holy One of Being said to Moses,
“Speak, telling the Israel folks to make tzitzit
On the corners of their garments,
So they will have generations to follow them.
On each tzitzit let them set a blue thread.
These tzitzit are for your benefit!

Glance at them, and in your seeing,
Remember all the other directives
Of the Holy One of Being, and act on them!
This way, You will not be led astray,
Craving to see and want,
to then prostitute yourself for your cravings.
This way you will be mindful
To actualize my directions
For becoming dedicated to your God;
To be aware that I Am Yah, who is your God, the one who freed you from oppression, in order to God you.
I am Yah, who is your God.”^[8]
That is the truth!^[9]

The G*d will keep the rains to fall

forests green

and the waters of this planet

But be warned if you do not heed

The world will turn harsh for you

So teach your children to

Tie fringes on the corners of your robes

with a cord of blue

To remind you of the heavens

True and Firm

certain and enduring,

upright and faithful,

beloved and cherished,

desired and pleasant,

awesome and mighty,

correct and acceptable,

good and beautiful

is this [affirmation] to us for all eternity

תְּהִלּוֹת לְאֵל עֶלְיוֹן בָּרוּךְ הוּא וּמְבֹרָךְ.

מֹשֶׁה וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל

לְךָ עָנוּ שִׁירָה

בְּשִׂמְחָה רַבָּה וְאָמְ֒רוּ כֻלָּם:

מִי כָמֹֽכָה בָּאֵלִם יְהֹוָה

צוּר יִשְׂרָאֵל קֽוּמָה בְּעֶזְרַת יִשְׂרָאֵל וּפְדֵה כִנְאֻמֶֽךָ יְהוּדָה וְיִשְׂרָאֵל, גֹּאֲלֵֽנוּ יְהֹוָה צְבָאוֹת שְׁמוֹ קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל: בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה גָּאַל יִשְׂרָאֵל:

27. Prayers to G*d on High, Blessed One!

Moses and Miriam and the children of Israel

sang a song of great joy together singing:

Who is like You among the gods people worship? Who is like You, adorned in holiness,

awesome in praise, performing wonders!

With a new song the redeemed people praised Your Name

at the seashore!

All of them gave thanks in unison and proclaimed Your sovereignty and said:

Havayah, your majesty will be eternal!

Adonai Yimloch L'olam va-ed

Rock of Israel, arise to the aid of Israel, and liberate Judah and Israel . Our Redeemer— Yah of hosts’ is Your Name, the Holy One of Israel Blessed are You, Holy One, Who redeemed Israel.

28B. (when praying alone:)

You are Holy,
Your essence is Sacred.
And those who daily aspire to be holy,
Sing your Halleluyah all day.
Indeed, You are
the Great and Holy God.
Barukh attah Yah
Ha’el haḲadosh.

(When praying with ten or more adults)

We will be open to Your Holy essence in this world as they hallow it in the heavens above, as is written , and they called one to another, and said:

Holy, Holy Holy is HavaYah of the heavens, the whole earth is filled with your Presence. and they say: Blessed is the Presence from its place! as it says:

May You Reign in Majesty forever, through the generations

The words of one generation shall teach of Holiness to the next, and form a chain, link by link through time.

אִם־תַּחֲנֶ֬ה עָלַ֨י ׀ מַחֲנֶה֮ לֹא־יִירָ֢א לִ֫בִּ֥י אִם־תָּק֣וּם עָ֭לַי מִלְחָמָ֑ה בְּ֝זֹ֗את אֲנִ֣י בוֹטֵֽחַ׃

¹ HavaYah, you are my Light, my Infinity,
Whom need I dread? With You as the strength of my life

40. O Holy One, You are the source of Blessing, you sanctify us in the command to call out the Songs of Praise!

Psalm 113

Sing out praises you servants of the One, Praise the G*d's Holy essence/ name, may the Name be blessed from now until forever. From where the sun rises to where it sets, we will praise the Name. Raised beyond all earthly nations is G*d's Heavenly Presence. Who is like the Eternal, our G*d, such a lofty throne to view what is in the heavens and on earth.

The Holy One's power raises the poor and lifts up the needy from the dust, to set them with honored people.

G*d sets the childless woman up as a joyous mother of children, Hallelyah!

When Israel went out of Egypt,

Psalm 115

The Creator is mindful of us.
G*d will bless us;
G*d will bless the house of Israel;
G*d will bless the house of Aaron;

The Holy One will bless those who are in awe, small and great alike.

May the Holy One increase your numbers, and your chidlren's as well!

May You be blessed by the Creator, Maker of heaven and earth.

The heavens belong to G*d, but the earth is for earthlings.

The dead cannot sing Hallel, to You, Oh G*d, nor those who descend in silence!

How can I repay You, Holy One
for all Your acts of grace to me?
