Va'Etchanan - Did Moshe Rejoice in the Gift of His Portion?

From the Shabbat Amidah:

Moses rejoiced in the gift of his portion

(23) I pleaded with יהוה at that time, saying, (24) “O Lord יהוה, You who let Your servant see the first works of Your greatness and Your mighty hand, You whose powerful deeds no god in heaven or on earth can equal! (25) Let me, I pray, cross over and see the good land on the other side of the Jordan, that good hill country, and the Lebanon.”

(1) ואתחנן — All forms of the verb חנן signify an ex gratia gift. ..... AT THAT TIME — After I had subdued the land of Sihon and Og I thought that perhaps the vow that I should not enter the land was annulled, since this was part of the land of Canaan.

Translations of אֶעְבְּרָה־נָּ֗א:

JPS: Let me, I pray, cross over

Hirsch: Let me cross over, I pray thee

Alter: Let me pray cross over.

Everett Fox: Pray, let me cross over.

(26) But יהוה was wrathful with me on your account and would not listen to me. יהוה said to me, “Enough! Never speak to Me of this matter again!

(1) Now Korah, son of Izhar son of Kohath son of Levi, betook himself, along with Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth—descendants of Reuben. (2) to rise up against Moses, together with two hundred and fifty Israelites, chieftains of the community, chosen in the assembly, men of repute. (3) They combined against Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! For all the community are holy, all of them, and יהוה is in their midst. Why then do you raise yourselves above יהוה’s congregation?”

(4) When Moses heard this, he fell on his face. (5) Then he spoke to Korah and all his company, saying, “Come morning, יהוה will make known who is [God’s] and who is holy by granting direct access; the one whom [God] has chosen will be granted access. (6) Do this: You, Korah and all your band, take fire pans, (7) and tomorrow put fire in them and lay incense on them before יהוה. Then the candidate whom יהוה chooses, he shall be the holy one. You have gone too far, sons of Levi!”

(27) Go up to the summit of Pisgah and gaze about, to the west, the north, the south, and the east. Look at it well, for you shall not go across yonder Jordan.

(4) Hear, O Israel! יהוה is our God, יהוה alone. Others “The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” (5) You shall love your God יהוה with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

(12) יהוה said to Moses, “Ascend these heights of Abarim and view the land that I have given to the Israelite people. (13) When you have seen it, you too shall be gathered to your kin, just as your brother Aaron was. (14) For, in the wilderness of Zin, when the community was contentious, you disobeyed My command to uphold My sanctity in their sight by means of the water.” Those are the Waters of Meribath-kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. (15) Moses spoke to יהוה, saying, (16) “Let יהוה, Source of the breath of all flesh, appoint someone over the community (17) who shall go out before them and come in before them, and who shall take them out and bring them in, so that יהוה’s community may not be like sheep that have no shepherd.” (18) And יהוה answered Moses, “Single out Joshua son of Nun, an inspired man, and lay your hand upon him. (19) Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before the whole community, and commission him in their sight. (20) Invest him with some of your authority, so that the whole Israelite community may obey.

Who is rich? He who rejoices in his lot,

(5) Happy are those who dwell in Your house;
they forever praise You. Selah.

Moses rejoiced in the gift of his portion, for "trusted servant" You called him. A crown of glory You placed on his head, as he stood before You on Mount Sinai. And two tablets of stone he brought down in his hand, and on them You wrote the keeping of Shabbat.
