גְּמָ׳ הָנֵי עֲשָׂרָה מַלְכִיּוֹת כְּנֶגֶד מִי? אָמַר רַבִּי: כְּנֶגֶד עֲשָׂרָה הִלּוּלִים שֶׁאָמַר דָּוִד בְּסֵפֶר תְּהִלִּים. הִלּוּלִים טוּבָא הָווּ! הָנָךְ דִּכְתִיב בְּהוּ ״הַלְלוּהוּ בְּתֵקַע שׁוֹפָר״. רַב יוֹסֵף אָמַר: כְּנֶגֶד עֲשֶׂרֶת הַדִּבְּרוֹת שֶׁנֶּאֶמְרוּ לוֹ לְמֹשֶׁה בְּסִינַי. רַבִּי יוֹחָנָן אָמַר: כְּנֶגֶד עֲשָׂרָה מַאֲמָרוֹת שֶׁבָּהֶן נִבְרָא הָעוֹלָם. הֵי נִינְהוּ? ״וַיֹּאמֶר״ — ״וַיֹּאמֶר״ דִּבְרֵאשִׁית תִּשְׁעָה הָווּ! ״בְּרֵאשִׁית״ נָמֵי מַאֲמָר הוּא, דִּכְתִיב: ״בִּדְבַר ה׳ שָׁמַיִם נַעֲשׂוּ״.

Rosh Hashanah 32a:17-19

GEMARA: The Gemara asks: These ten verses of Kingship, to what do they correspond? Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi said: They correspond to the ten praises that David said in the book of Psalms. The Gemara asks: There are many more praises than that in the book of Psalms. The Gemara answers that he means those in which it is written by them: “Praise Him with the blast of the shofar” (Psalms 150:3). In that chapter the phrase “Praise Him” appears ten times. Rav Yosef said: The ten verses correspond to the Ten Commandments, which were said to Moses at Sinai. Rabbi Yoḥanan said: They correspond to the ten utterances through which the world was created. The Gemara asks: Which are these ten utterances? The Gemara explains: This is referring to the ten times that the phrase “And He said” appears in the story of Creation in the first two chapters of Genesis. The Gemara asks: Does it refer to the repetition of the phrase: “And He said” in Genesis? There are only nine such phrases, not ten. The Gemara answers that the phrase “In the beginning” is also considered an utterance, as it is written: “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made” (Psalms 33:6), which indicates that all of creation came into existence through a single utterance, after which all matter was formed into separate and distinct entities by means of the other nine utterances.

כִּי הַמַּלְכוּת שֶׁלְּךָ הִיא וּלְעֽוֹלְמֵי עַד תִּמְלֹךְ בְּכָבוֹד.

1.כַּכָּתוּב בְּתוֹרָתֶֽךָ יקוק יִמְלֹךְ לְעֹלָם וָעֶד:

2.וְנֶאֱמַר לֹא הִבִּיט אָֽוֶן בְּיַעֲקֹב וְלֹא רָאָה עָמָל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל יקוק אֱלֹקָיו עִמּוֹ וּתְרוּעַת מֶֽלֶךְ

בּוֹ:

3. וְנֶאֱמַר וַיְהִי בִישֻׁרוּן מֶֽלֶךְ בְּהִתְאַסֵּף רָֽאשֵׁי עָם יַֽחַד שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל:

4.וּבְדִבְרֵי קָדְשְׁךָ כָּתוּב לֵאמֹר: כִּי לַיקוק הַמְּלוּכָה וּמשֵׁל בַּגּוֹיִם:

5.וְנֶאֱמַר יקוק מָלָךְ גֵּאוּת לָבֵשׁ לָבֵשׁ יקוק עֹז הִתְאַזָּר אַף תִּכּוֹן תֵּבֵל בַּל תִּמּוֹט:

6. וְנֶאֱמַר שְׂאוּ שְׁעָרִים רָאשֵׁיכֶם וְהִנָּשְׂאוּ פִּתְחֵי עוֹלָם וְיָבוֹא מֶֽלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד: מִי זֶה מֶֽלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד יקוק עִזּוּז וְגִבּוֹר יקוק גִּבּוֹר מִלְחָמָה: שְׂאוּ שְׁעָרִים רָאשֵׁיכֶם וּשְׂאוּ פִּתְחֵי עוֹלָם וְיָבֹא מֶֽלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד: מִי הוּא זֶה מֶֽלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד יקוק צְבָאוֹת הוּא מֶֽלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד סֶֽלָה:

7. וְעַל יְדֵי עֲבָדֶֽיךָ הַנְּבִיאִים כָּתוּב לֵאמֹר: כֹּה אָמַר יקוק מֶֽלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל וְגֹאֲלוֹ יקוק צְבָאוֹת אֲנִי רִאשׁוֹן וַאֲנִי אַחֲרוֹן וּמִבַּלְעָדַי אֵין אֱלֹקִים:

8. וְנֶאֱמַר וְעָלוּ מוֹשִׁיעִים בְּהַר צִיּוֹן לִשְׁפֹּט אֶת הַר עֵשָׂו וְהָיְתָה לַיקוק הַמְּלוּכָה:

9. וְנֶאֱמַר וְהָיָה יקוק לְמֶֽלֶךְ עַל כָּל הָאָֽרֶץ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא יִהְיֶה יקוק אֶחָד וּשְׁמוֹ אֶחָד:

10. וּבְתוֹרָתְךָ כָּתוּב לֵאמֹר: שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יקוק אֱלֹקֵֽינוּ יקוק אֶחָד:

(8) We therefore put our hope in You, Adonoy our God, to soon behold the glory of Your might in banishing idolatry from the earth; and the false gods will be utterly exterminated to perfect the world as the kingdom of Shadai. And all mankind will invoke Your Name, to turn back to You, all the wicked of the earth. They will realize, and know, all the inhabitants of the world, that to You every knee must bend, every tongue must swear allegiance to You. Before You, Adonoy, our God, they will bow and prostrate themselves, and to the glory of Your Name give honor. And they will accept upon themselves the yoke of Your kingdom, and You will reign over them, soon, forever and ever. For the kingdom is Yours, and to all eternity You will reign in glory, as it is written in Your Torah: “Adonoy will reign forever and ever.”

(9) And it is said: “He beheld no iniquity in Yaakov, nor did He see wrongdoing in Yisrael; Adonoy, His God is with him, and the love of the king is among them.” And it is said: “And He was King in Yeshurun, with the gathering of the heads of the people, the tribes of Yisrael were united.”

(10) And in Your holy words it is written: “For the kingship is Adonoy’s, and He rules over nations.” And it is said: “Adonoy has begun His reign, He has clothed Himself in majesty; Adonoy has clothed Himself, He has girded Himself with strength. He has also firmly established the world so that it cannot be moved.” And it is said: “Lift up your heads,—gates, and be uplifted entranceways to eternity, so that the King of Glory may enter. Who is this King of Glory? Adonoy, strong and mighty; Adonoy, the Mighty One in battle. Lift up your heads,—gates, and lift up entranceways to eternity, so that the King of Glory may enter. Who is He, this King of Glory? Adonoy Tzevaos, He is the King of Glory, forever.”

(11) And by the hand of Your servants, the Prophets it is written: “thus said Adonoy, King of Yisrael and its Redeemer, Adonoy Tzevaos: “I am the first and I am the last; and beside Me, there is no God.” And it is said: “And deliverers will go up to Mount Tziyon to judge the mount of Esau, and the kingdom will be Adonoy’s.” And it is said: “And Adonoy will be King over the whole earth; on that day Adonoy will be One and His Name One.”

(12) And in Your Torah it is written: “Hear, Yisrael: Adonoy is our God Adonoy is One!”
