Magic is a political term, used for non-authorized spiritual practitioners usually working with individuals under the radar. Other than that, witches might not be doing things that are different from authorized spiritual practitioners.

The Master said : One may not pass by food [meaning bread]; rather, one must treat the food with respect and pick it up. Rabbi Yoḥanan said in the name of Rabbi Shimon bar Yoḥai: They taught this ruling only in the early generations, when Jewish women were not accustomed to using witchcraft. However, in the later generations, when Jewish women are accustomed to using witchcraft, one may pass by food, as a spell might have been cast on the bread, and one must not put himself in unnecessary danger. A Sage taught: If the loaves are whole, one may pass them by, as they might have been placed there for the purposes of witchcraft; however, if they are in pieces, one may not pass them by, because bread in pieces is not used for witchcraft...

(17) And you, O mortal, set your face against the women of your people, who prophesy out of their own imagination. Prophesy against them (18) and say: Thus said the Sovereign Divine: Woe to those who sew pads on all arm-joints and make bonnets for the head of every person, in order to entrap! Can you hunt down lives among My people, while you preserve your own lives? (19) You have profaned Me among My people in return for handfuls of barley and morsels of bread; you have announced the death of persons who will not die and the survival of persons who will not live—lying to My people, who listen to your lies.
(ב)בשעלי שעורים ובפתותי לחם. שכר מעשיהן ששואלים בהם נותנים להם מלא אגרוף שעורים או פת לחם ויש מפרשים כי השעורים והלחם היו נותנות תוך הכסתות ובהם היו עושות המעשה:
"By handfuls of barley and scraps of bread": This refers to the payment they received for their deeds—those who consulted them would give them a handful of barley or a piece of bread. Some interpret that they would place the barley and bread inside the cushion, and with these items, they would perform their actions.
(כו) לֹ֥א תֹאכְל֖וּ עַל־הַדָּ֑ם לֹ֥א תְנַחֲשׁ֖וּ וְלֹ֥א תְעוֹנֵֽנוּ׃
(26) You shall not eat anything with its blood. You shall not practice divination or soothsaying.
Generation after generation of Jews in Europe was tortured, and Jewish communities were massacred or dispersed and broken up because of this libel. It was spread by various agents. Popular preachers ingrained it in the minds of the common people. It became embedded, through miracle tales, in their imagination and beliefs....
By the 15th century, the motif was commonplace throughout western and central Europe. It often gave rise to legends around miracles performed by the alleged victims of the blood libels. In 1475, a 2-year old boy named Simon disappeared from the city of Trent in Italy around the time of Easter. His father alleged that he had been kidnapped and murdered by the local Jewish community in order to make matzah for Passover. The entire Jewish community was arrested and forced to confess under torture before they were sentenced to death and burned at the stake. After hundreds of miracles were ascribed to Simon of Trent, a religious cult spread across Italy, Germany, and Austria in his name and he was granted sainthood in the 16th century (subsequently removed by the pope in 1965)...
The Nazis made effective use of the blood libel charge in their antisemitic propaganda. In 1923, Julius Streicher established his virulently antisemitic newspaper, Der Stürmer (The Attacker), which frequently employed the blood libel motif. The May 1934 volume of Der Stuermer was devoted specifically to the blood libel, accusing Jews of practicing ritual murder to secure the blood of Christians to use in Jewish religious rituals with the headline “Jewish Murder Plan against Gentile Humanity Revealed.”
Even after the Holocaust, the blood libel charge figured prominently in a number of pogroms that broke out in Poland after the war. Most prominent was the Kielce pogrom of July 1946. The pogrom View this term in the glossary was sparked by charges that a nine-year-old non-Jewish boy, Henryk Blaszczyk, who had left his home in Kielce without informing his parents, had been kidnapped and hidden in the basement of the local Jewish Committee building in Kielce. Although he returned home two days later, the accusation led to a pogrom that resulted in the deaths of 42 Jews and sparked the widespread flights of thousands of Jews out of Poland once and for all.
The Roman Catholic Church has repudiated the blood libel charge, removing Simon of Trent from the list of saints in 1965. Nonetheless, the myth of the blood libel remains powerful into the 21st century. A 2003 TV series broadcast in Syria and Lebanon based on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion shows the Jewish people as engaging in a conspiracy to rule the world, and presents Jews as a people who murder Christian children and drain their blood to bake matzah...
Blood libel charges also spread beyond Europe in the 19th century. The 1840 Damascus Affair and the 1910 Shiraz (Iran) blood libel marked the spread of the blood libel charge in the Arab world.
(ה) וְלָקַחְתָּ֣ סֹ֔לֶת וְאָפִיתָ֣ אֹתָ֔הּ שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה חַלּ֑וֹת שְׁנֵי֙ עֶשְׂרֹנִ֔ים יִהְיֶ֖ה הַֽחַלָּ֥ה הָאֶחָֽת׃ (ו) וְשַׂמְתָּ֥ אוֹתָ֛ם שְׁתַּ֥יִם מַֽעֲרָכ֖וֹת שֵׁ֣שׁ הַֽמַּעֲרָ֑כֶת עַ֛ל הַשֻּׁלְחָ֥ן הַטָּהֹ֖ר לִפְנֵ֥י יהוה׃ (ז) וְנָתַתָּ֥ עַל־הַֽמַּעֲרֶ֖כֶת לְבֹנָ֣ה זַכָּ֑ה וְהָיְתָ֤ה לַלֶּ֙חֶם֙ לְאַזְכָּרָ֔ה אִשֶּׁ֖ה לַֽיהוה׃
(5) You shall take choice flour and bake of it twelve loaves, two-tenths of a measure for each loaf. (6) Place them on the pure table before the Divine in two rows, six to a row. (7) With each row you shall place pure frankincense, and it will be as a bread offering by fire to the Divine
(יח) מִמִּתְכַּבֵּד, כְּמָה דְאֲמָרָן דְּאִיהוּ אוֹקִיר גַּרְמֵיהּ מְסַלְסֵל בְּשַׂעֲרֵיהּ אִתְגָּאֵי בְּרוּחֵיהּ, וְאִיהוּ חֲסַר לֶחֶם, חֲסַר מְהֵימְנוּתָא כְּמָה דְאַתְּ אָמֵר, (ויקרא כ״א:י״ז) לֶחֶם אֱלֹהָיו וְגו' (ויקרא כ״א:ו׳) לֶחֶם אֱלֹהֵיהֶם הֵם מַקְרִיבִים וְגו'.
(18) "than one who pranks himself" is as we said, that he puts on airs, curls his hair, and acts haughtily, "but lacks bread." This means a lack of faith, as it is written, "to offer the bread of his Elohim" (Vayikra 21:17), and "the bread of their Elohim they do offer" (Ibid. 6). Bread is the Shechinah in both verses. Faith is the Shechinah, so lacking bread means lacking faith.

Through proper prayer, the light of ancestors' merit shines, this is the essence of “the merit of the ancestors is ChaLaH (activated).” This happens through proper prayer, because ancestral merit is ChaLaH/activated as a result of “Moshe vayeChaL (implored)…” (Exodus 32:11)—through the aspect of prayer. And “wherever the ancestors are present, the Shechinah/Feminine Divine Presence is present.” For She is the aspect of challah, she is gam zot (this too--the Zohar calls the Goddess "gam zot" see Zohar:Bechokotai 15:56); GaM is the aspect of ChaLlaH, whose measure is M-G (43) "eggs." (Considered the minimum measurement of flour which requires burning a piece of the dough)
Perhaps a recipe is just another word for a spell.
