Four Sources Re: Year and Day

This is the bread of oppression that our ancestors ate in Mitzrayim.
All who are hungry come and eat.
All who are in need join for Pesach.
Now we are here, next year in a land of God-wrestlers as yet unimagined.
Now we are slaves, next year free.

"Next year free" Why the expectation that "next year" so much will change? Because, Rabbi Joshua (first and second centuries CE) taught: "In Nisan [the month when Passover falls] they were redeemed: and in Nisan they will be redeemed" (R.H. 11a). Although Rabbi Eliezer disagreed and held that the future redemption would occur in Tishrei, when the autumn holidays fall, Jewish messianic expectations have historically been overwhelmingly associated with Passover and Nisan. -- Rabbi David Arnow

It is taught: Rabbi Eliezer said: In Tishrei the world was created; in Tishrei the Patriarchs were born; in Tishrei the Patriarchs died; on Passover Isaac was born; on Rosh HaShana Sarah, Rachel, and Hannah were remembered by God and conceived; on Rosh HaShana Joseph came out from prison;
[page break: 10b/11a]
on Rosh HaShana our ancestors’ slavery in Mitzrayim ceased; in Nisan they were redeemed; in Tishrei in the future God will redeem.
Rabbi Yehoshua says: In Nisan the world was created; in Nisan the Patriarchs were born; in Nisan the Patriarchs died; on Passover Isaac was born; on Rosh HaShana Sarah, Rachel, and Hannah were remembered by God; on Rosh HaShana Joseph came out from prison; on Rosh HaShana our ancestors’ slavery in Mitzrayim ceased; in Nisan they were redeemed; and in Nisan in the future Go will redeem.

Lo, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before the coming of the great [ha-gadol] and terrible [ha-nora] day of GOD.
(3:24) He shall reconcile parents with children and children with their parents, so that, when I come, I do not strike the whole land with utter destruction.
