We’re happy to announce that we’ve added a significant new work to the library: the first two volumes of a contemporary six-volume English translation of Tikkunei Zohar, one of the foundational texts in Kabbalistic literature. The rest of the translation is also on its way to Sefaria and will be added as volumes are completed. As a supporter of the library, you enable Sefaria to make more and more Jewish texts available to people around the world. Adding new translations like this one to the library is an important part of that work.
Written in medieval Spain, Tikkunei Zohar is comprised of 70 commentaries on the first word of the Torah — bereshit (in the beginning). The original text was composed mostly in Aramaic, with some words in Hebrew, making it a potentially challenging read for many.
Tikkunei Zohar has never been fully translated into English — until now. This edition, translated by Dr. David Solomon and published by Margalya Press, is slated for publication late in 2024, and will allow readers worldwide to delve into these ideas regardless of their proficiency in Hebrew or Aramaic. Solomon’s edition is an annotated scholarly translation, meaning the base text is linked to commentary on the ideas, themes, and symbols of the text, noted challenges in translation, and comparisons of different editions of Tikkunei Zohar.
