Encountering Vision Full Moon of Kislev 5785

Though the name Kislev is itself Babylonian in origin, the word kis in Hebrew means pocket and lev means heart. This has been said to refer to the capacity to be a vessel for what our hearts desire. Very often people want things but they do not know how to receive what they want in their lives. They therefore stay in a place of wanting, unable to receive what they want. During this month, we have a greater capacity to actually receive what we want by just a small allowing within ourselves.

Kislev is an auspicious time to meditate on one’s life purpose and receive important guidance. Kislev is a time of clarity.

You have a right to dream. Your dreams speak the message of the soul. They need not be logical. This is the month to pay attention to your dreams, listening to the part of yourself beyond the rational mind. …

Sometimes when we do not love and trust ourselves enough, we give up our dreams. We hide to play it safe. This is the month to restore our self-confidence and courage to be ourselves and live in accordance with our soul purpose. This month, be particularly mindful to not give up on your dreams in order to please other people and to receive their approval and validation. Do not accept fear projected towards you by others, supposedly on your behalf, who may be afraid to live out their own dreams.

The miracle of Chanukah is connected to awakening from illusion, and understanding that who I am is exactly who I need to be. This is also the real meaning of the miracle of the jug of oil: the revelation that even a small quantity of pure oil, which the Hassidic tradition teaches us is symbolic of the inner essence of a person, is enough to illuminate everything. …

The jar of pure oil expresses who we are in truth, in our depths, in the purity of our hearts, irrespective of performance or approbation. The miracle of Chanukah is the miracle of the awakening of our conscious awareness to this “pure oil”, and that it is enough to cast a great light over all of reality, even to start a cultural revolution.

Chanukah is the name we give to this revolution, this non-capitulation to the overweeningly dominant mainstream culture. It is the name we give to this recognition that the inner essence of our life is Good Enough. This recognition is a true miracle.

This is the month to love and listen deeply to the inner child within you. Allowing your inner child to have fun is the key to being happy and successful. When your inner child is having fun you are beloved, and gates to success on every level of your being open for you. The magic in life comes from your inner child. So come out and play this month whenever you can.

Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace and power in it.
