(מג) הַרְנִ֤ינוּ גוֹיִם֙ עַמּ֔וֹ כִּ֥י דַם־עֲבָדָ֖יו יִקּ֑וֹם וְנָקָם֙ יָשִׁ֣יב לְצָרָ֔יו וְכִפֶּ֥ר אַדְמָת֖וֹ עַמּֽוֹ׃ (פ)
(43) O nations, acclaim His people! For He’ll avenge the blood of His servants, Wreak vengeance on His foes, And cleanse the land of His people.

Praise O Heavens, his people! Worship him every god, for he vindicates the blood of his children. He will bring vengeance to his enemies and he will repay his enemies and cleanse the land of his people.
בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי עֲצֶרֶת, זֶה שֶׁאָמַר הַכָּתוּב: תַּחַת אַהֲבָתִי יִשְׂטְנוּנִי וַאֲנִי תְּפִלָּה (תהלים קט, ד). אַתְּ מוֹצֵא בֶּחָג, שֶׁיִּשְׂרָאֵל מַקְרִיבִים שִׁבְעִים פָּרִים עַל שִׁבְעִים אֻמּוֹת. אָמְרוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל לִפְנֵי הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, הֲרֵי אָנוּ מַקְרִיבִים שִׁבְעִים פָּרִים לְשִׁבְעִים אֻמּוֹת, לְפִיכָךְ הָיוּ צְרִיכִין אַף הֵם לִהְיוֹת אוֹהֲבִין אוֹתָנוּ. וְלֹא דַּיָּם שֶׁאֵין אוֹהֲבִין אוֹתָנוּ, אֶלָּא שׂוֹנְאִין אוֹתָנוּ, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: תַּחַת אַהֲבָתִי יִשְׂטְנוּנִי. לְפִיכָךְ אָמַר לָהֶם הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, כָּל שִׁבְעַת יְמֵי הֶחָג שֶׁהֱיִיתֶם מַקְרִיבִים לְפָנַי קָרְבָּנוֹת, עַל אֻמּוֹת הָעוֹלָם הֱיִיתֶם מַקְרִיבִים שִׁבְעִים פָּרִים. אֲבָל עַכְשָׁו, הַקְרִיבוּ עַל עַצְמְכֶם, שֶׁבַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי עֲצֶרֶת תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם וְהִקְרַבְתֶּם עוֹלָה אִשֶּׁה רֵיחַ נִיחוֹחַ לַה' פַּר אֶחָד אַיִל אֶחָד.
...On the 8th Day, Atzeret, the text says: "They answer my love with accusation, but I am all prayer." You find that on the Holiday [i.e. Sukkot], that Israel sacrifices 70 bulls for the 70 nations. Israel said to God, "Master of the Universe, we sacrifice 70 bulls for the 70 nations, therefore they must also love us. But it isn't that they just don't love us, rather they hate us, as it says: 'They answer my love with accusation.'" Therefore God said to them [i.e. israel], "all 7 days of the Holiday that you are sacrificing sacrifices before me, you are sacrificing 70 bulls for the 70 nations of the world. However now, you are sacrificing for yourself, for on the 8th day it is an Atzeret for you, and "you shall present a burnt offering, an offering by fire of pleasing odor to the LORD; one bull, one ram" (Numbers 29:36).
