Principle 1: It's Not About the Kids!
Even if all of us were wise, all of us discerning, all of us veteran scholars, all of knowledgeable in Torah, it would still be a mitzvah for us to retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt. The more and the longer one expands and embellishes the story, the more commendable.
Principle 2: Everyone Learns at Their Level
(12) There are four temperaments among students: Easy to provoke and easy to appease--his loss is canceled by his gain. Hard to provoke and hard to appease--his gain is canceled by his loss. Hard to provoke and easy to appease--he is pious. Easy to provoke and hard to appease--he is wicked.
Blessed is the Place [of all], Blessed is He; Blessed is the One who Gave the Torah to His people Israel, Blessed is He. Corresponding to four sons did the Torah speak; one [who is] wise, one [who is] evil, one who is innocent and one who doesn't know to ask.
Principle 3: Change it Up!
Once the young pupil, Abaye, was invited to the Seder of his teacher Rabbah. While still at the beginning of the seder Rabbah ordered the servants to clear the dishes from the table. Amazed, Abaye asked, "Why are you removing the seder plate before we have eaten?" Rabbah exclaimed, "Your question has exempted us from reciting Mah Mishtanah (the four questions)!"
