Midrash HaIttamari is a late 17th-century collection of sermons by Rabbi Eliyahu HaKohen of Smyrna. The work’s 31 chapters address a range of topics: lifecycle events, such as marriage, circumcision, and death; Jewish values and obligations, including charity, prayer, and preparation for mitzvot; and topics of Jewish thought and faith, such as redemption and suffering of the righteous. Most sections begin with a brief introduction and an opening source, followed by the author’s analysis of the topic.
